St. Irene Catholic School is open for the 2020-2021 school year for all day in-person learning grades PS-8.

Extracurricular Activities

St. Irene Catholic School offers a wide range of student activities to help children pursue their interests.

Chess Club

Leader: Mr. Pat McDonough

Students meet once a month to learn and play the challenging game of chess.


Leader: Mr. Tom Foster

Our band program is coordinated with Music Education Services.  Instruction takes place during and after the school day. Our band students perform several concerts throughout the year with students from other schools.  Available to students in grade 4-8 (fee)

Newspaper Club

Leader:  Mrs. Jacqueline Reid

Newspaper Club provides an opportunity for students to learn about different types of articles and contributions to a newspaper.  Students also assist in the production of our annul Junior High Shakespeare production.


Scouting is fun with a purpose! St. Irene School students participate in several Girl Scout troops, a Boy Scout and a Cub Scout pack.  Scouting options are open to girls and boys beginning in grades K (girls) and 1 (boys).

Student Council

Leader: Mr. Pat McDonough

Students participating in Student Council learn about representation, voting, planning and carrying out of projects, and working on behalf of the school and its members.  Student Council consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Additionally, grades 5 though 8 elect 2 students to serve as representatives of their classroom.  

The Student Council members are responsible for planning, implementing and carrying out projects. During weekly meetings, the students brainstorm and assume their roles as leaders.
